Group Interpersonal Therapy (IPT-G) for low resource settings and communities
March 26 - March 28
All R4HC members are invited to attend a workshop and seminar in Group Interpersonal Therapy (IPT-G) for low resource settings and communities. This will be hosted at the Anna Freud Centre in London from 26 – 28 May 2020.
Group IPT is an evidence-based treatment for depression, bulimia, binge-eating, and other disorders. It has been tested for feasibility, acceptability, effectiveness, and sustainability in low-income settings in a number of landmark randomized controlled trials. On the World Mental Health Day (October 10th) 2016, the WHO launched a global dissemination of the Group IPT Manual: http://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/10665/250219/1/WHO-MSD-MER-16.4-eng.pdf. The authors of the manual are Lena Verdeli, Myrna Weissman, and Kathy Clougherty. The manual has since been translated in Russian, Chinese, and Arabic.
To share knowledge and build global capacity in IPT, Lena Verdeli, Ph.D, MSc, director of the Global Mental Health Lab at Teachers College, Columbia University is offering a 3-day training workshop and seminar on the WHO Group IPT manual. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided upon completion of the workshop and seminar.
